Heavy rains cause flooding and blockages in streets and sectors of Santiago

Santiago. – The intense rains recorded this Monday caused flooding in important streets, avenues, and neighborhoods of the city of Santiago, generating traffic jams and difficulties in the displacement of residents, especially in the areas where the waters traditionally concentrated

The heaviest rainfall was felt on 27 de Febrero Avenue, the Southern bypass, and in areas such as Los Ciruelitos, as well as in the municipal district of Santiago Oeste, where several roads were flooded, affecting traffic and access to some communities. The rains caused the collapse of storm drains at critical points, which contributed to the accumulation of water in streets and avenues, causing long blockages and delays for drivers and pedestrians.

So far, no human damage has been reported, although residents expressed concern about the recurrence of these floods whenever heavy rains occur in the city.
