The first images of Henry Cavill as Connor MacLeod in the highly anticipated remake of Highlander were revealed, generating great expectation among the fans of the iconic saga. The film will be directed by Chad Stahelski, known for the John Wick franchise. Cavill will play the immortal Scottish warrior who, throughout the centuries, faces others like him until reaching a final showdown where “only one will remain.” The cast also includes Russell Crowe as Ramirez, MacLeod’s mentor; Dave Bautista as The Kurgan, the antagonist; Karen Gillan, Marisa Abela, Djimon Hounsou and Jeremy Irons in key roles. The project, backed by United Artists and Amazon MGM Studios, has been in development for over a decade and marks a new beginning for the franchise, with Cavill also as an executive producer.
