Ideice opens the XVI International Congress 2025 with 242 exhibitors and 140 studies on educational quality
Santo Domingo. – With the participation of 242 national and international exhibitors from 14 countries and the presentation of 140 studies, the Dominican Institute for the Evaluation and Research of Educational Quality (Ideice) inaugurated this Tuesday the Sixteenth International Congress 2025, held under the theme: “Quality education: challenges and opportunities for the improvement of teaching and learning processes through evaluation and research”.
During the opening ceremony, Jesús Andújar Avilés, executive director of Ideice, highlighted that this edition presents an “enriching and diverse” program, consisting of keynote lectures, discussions, round tables, practical workshops, posters, and the exhibition of innovative research and experiences.
He also highlighted the incorporation of technological demonstrations such as augmented reality, simulations, and educational video games, which showcase new methodologies and opportunities for learning.
Andújar Avilés stated that research and evaluation are essential strategies for education to transform into an engine of social development. “Herein lies its importance: they are the bridge between a deep understanding of the challenges and the implementation of actions that generate a real and lasting difference,” he emphasized.
The CEO of Ideice presented the thematic axes of the Congress, highlighting their importance for the quality of teaching and learning processes. He also highlighted the main initiatives of his management, including PREIET, the Competitive Research Funds, the expansion of the program “Know Your Regional Area Investigating” and the relaunch of “Young Researcher”. These actions are part of the work plan that drives this edition of the congress, conceived as a space for analysis, debate and collaboration between national and international educational actors.
Vice Minister Oscar Amargós, representing the Minister of Education, Luis Miguel Decams García-Mella, highlighted in his speech the Congress’s trajectory and affirmed that it has become an annual event for the educational community.
He defined the space as a space that every year convenes that same educational community with the purpose of knowing, delivering evidence, presenting results and research of great utility to continue building the roadmap towards the development of a quality educational system.
“Minister Luis Miguel De Camps and the entire team that accompanies him thank Ideice for upholding with rigor and commitment an event that is already an essential part of the National Agenda for Educational Preference Improvement, such as this Congress,” highlighted Vice Minister Amargós.
After the official opening, the Portuguese mathematician, economist, and writer Nuno Crato, former Minister of Education and Science of Portugal (2011-2015), gave the keynote lecture entitled: “The curriculum: starting point of all teaching.”
The Congress agenda covers three days of activities, including five keynote conferences, 15 practical workshops given by 16 Dominican and foreign specialists, and a colloquium, scheduled for Thursday, December 4, titled “Data that transform: evaluation, research and technology at the service of educational quality”, led by Jesús Andújar Avilés and Julián Álvarez, Director of Evaluation and Research of Ideice.
