Santo Domingo.– The Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (Indotel) presented the documentary “Soldiers of Democracy,” an audiovisual production that pays tribute to a group of Dominican military personnel who played a decisive role in preserving the country’s stability and democratic continuity during one of the most transcendental moments in national history.
n” “nThe work, directed by filmmaker Alberto Zayas and based on the book “Muchachos de la Democracia” (Boys of Democracy), by historian and retired Lieutenant General José Miguel Soto Jiménez, was screened during an event held at Caribbean Cinemas in Downtown Center, with the presence of former President Hipólito Mejía, as well as authorities, military personnel, academics, and special guests.
n” “nThe production gathers testimonies from protagonists of the events, archival material, and analysis from specialists to reconstruct the facts from a historical perspective, highlighting the commitment of those who acted in favor of constitutional order and social peace.
n” “nBefore the screening, Gómez Mazara highlighted that the production of the documentary responds to an institutional commitment to the preservation of historical memory, noting that new generations increasingly consume information through digital platforms. In that sense, he pointed out that the challenge is to leverage these media to bring citizens closer to the events that have marked the country’s democratic life.
