The Iranian Defense Minister, Brigadier General Aziz Nafizardeh, warned this Wednesday that his country will attack US bases in the region if the United States launches an offensive against the Persian nation.
“Iran will attack US bases if attacked,” said the defense official, according to the local Mehr agency.
The military official stated that “all U.S. bases and military bases of other countries in the region that assist the U.S. in attacks against Iranian territory will be considered legitimate targets.”
“The Iranian response will be painful for the enemies” if Iran is attacked, the military official specified.
preceding from last year
US President Donald Trump has threatened the Iranian regime on several occasions with launching an attack against the country to defend the thousands of protesters who have taken to the streets for two weeks in protests throughout the Islamic republic in which hundreds of civilians have died.
Trump attacked nuclear facilities in Iran last June in an offensive that, according to the Iranians, killed more than a thousand people, most of them civilians, an action that Tehran responded to with an attack on a US base in neighboring Qatar, without many consequences.
Funeral of the security agents killed in the protests
Amid escalating tensions, Iran is holding funerals this Wednesday for the more than one hundred members of the security forces who, according to the regime, have died during the protests.
The bodies will be moved in a procession from the University of Tehran to the cemetery of the Persian capital, the Mehr agency reported.
This official media called for the massive participation of citizens in a new attempt to project unity in the face of the largest protests held in the country in years, which the Iranian government blames on the United States and Israel.
