Mohammad Jafar Asadi, deputy commander of the Iranian Army’s command center, threatened this Saturday about the possibility of a new armed conflict with United States, given the stagnation of peace talks and the observations of the American president Donald Trump to the last Iranian proposal in the negotiations.
“The conflict between Iran and the United States is likely to resume, and the evidence shows that the United States is not committed to any promise or agreement,” declared the member of Khatam al-Anbiya, according to the Iranian news agency Fars, affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
The declarations of the deputy commander of the military headquarters come after the supreme leader of the Iranian regime, Mojtaba Khamenei, claimed that the Persian country was consolidated “as a military power” by defining “the Iranian-Islamic identity and instilling it as deeply as possible in the minds and souls of the youth.” The ayatollah has not been seen in public since he was designated as the successor to Ali Khamenei, his father, the day the United States and Israel initiated the war against Iran.In that sense, Yousef Pezeshkian, the advisor and son of the president of Iran, outlined different scenarios about the outcome of the war, pointing out that the country has suffered damage, but gained international prestige.

The advisor indicated that the conflict, initiated after the US and Israeli attacks on February 28, has generated mixed results and its final resolution remains uncertain. Pezeshkian urged the population to prepare for different scenarios: “We must prepare for the worst case… so that we are not caught off guard”, he warned, and also recommended “living in the present” without conditioning personal well-being to uncertain future events. Pezeshkian stated that planning for potential negative or positive outcomes can help Iranian society cope with the uncertainty arising from the conflict. For his part, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, assured on Friday that his country will not abandon negotiations with Tehran until a definitive agreement is reached and ruled out any early withdrawal that implies resuming the process in the future.“We are not going to leave early and then have to come back when the problem resurfaces in three years”, declared the president during a speech in Florida.
The occupant of the White House stated that the talks are progressing in favor of Washington, although Tehran is still not meeting the conditions requested by his administration: “They are not complying with the type of agreement we need, and we are going to make this happen correctly”. According to his words, the country has no navy, air force, anti-aircraft equipment, radar, or operational leadership: “Their leaders have disappeared. The first group, the second group, Khamenei, they’re all gone”. The president recalled that, in a two-week period, the Iranian regime killed 42,000 protesters and called the leaders of the Middle Eastern country a “wicked” leadership. Furthermore, he maintained that the military pressure exerted on Iran’s ports left the regime “decimated”. Regarding economic pressure, the United States Department of the Treasury sanctioned three Iranian exchange houses and a Chinese oil terminal on Friday, as part of a campaign to cut off the flow of revenue that sustains Tehran after the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. According to the Treasury, these exchange houses coordinate transactions derived from Iranian oil trade that evades US sanctions and have their own networks of shell companies and international bank accounts to move “billions of dollars.”
