Los Ángeles.- The family of James Van Der Beek has managed to raise more than a million dollars to financially support the wife and children of the American actor, who died on Wednesday at the age of 48 after suffering from colon cancer. The GoFundMe account was opened hours after the actor’s death was announced to provide support to the family, who are facing a critical situation due to the high medical care costs of the Dawson’s Creek star.

“The family faced not only emotional challenges, but also significant financial pressure, as they did everything possible to support James and take care of him,” reads the description of the fundraising account.

The money raised “will help cover basic expenses, pay bills, and support the children’s education“, the page continues. Van Der Beek began collaborating last year with a web project to sell memorabilia from the series that catapulted him to fame, including costumes and set design, in an attempt to pay the expensive medical bills for his cancer treatment.
