San Juan, DR. — More than a thousand people from the municipal district of Pedro Corto, in the San Juan province, received assistance from the Central Electoral Board (JCE) during a special ID issuance drive carried out to bring the new identity and electoral document closer to the residents of that area.
As reported by the institution, during the operation carried out from July 3 to 5, 1,152 citizens were assisted, who had the opportunity to process their new ID card without the need to travel to other districts.
The event was held within the framework of the patron saint festivities of Pedro Corto, in honor of Saint Peter the Apostle, and featured the participation of electoral and community authorities, led by the alternate member of the JCE Plenary, María Estela de León, and the director of the District Board, Tony Ramírez.
To ensure the participation of residents, the JCE carried out a call campaign through loudspeaker announcements and the distribution of flyers in nearby communities such as Punta Caña, Columna Arriba, La Sabana, Jovallar, and La Ceiba, among other locations.

The electoral body also enabled special facilities for people with disabilities or mobility difficulties, including mobile ID issuance services and transportation support for citizens who needed to travel to the service point.

During the activity, De León highlighted that the institution maintains its commitment to bringing its services to communities in the interior of the country and facilitating the identity document renewal process.
The official explained that the JCE continues to advance in the delivery of the new ID card to the Dominican population, a document that incorporates updated security mechanisms and seeks to strengthen citizen identification and electoral processes.
