US official Kristi Noem posted a message on her social media after the announcement that she would be replaced at the head of the United States Department of Homeland Security, a decision attributed to President Donald Trump. In her publication, Noem thanked the president for appointing her as Special Envoy for the Shield of the Americas, a new role from which she assures she will continue working on regional security issues. “Thank you, President Trump, for appointing me Special Envoy for the Shield of the Americas,” wrote the official. Likewise, he highlighted the leadership of Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, with whom he stated he hopes to work closely to confront drug cartels. “The Western Hemisphere is fundamental to the security of the United States,” expressed Noem, noting that in her new position she will seek to leverage the alliances and experience gained during the last 13 months in the Department of Homeland Security.

In his message, he also highlighted what he called historic achievements during his administration, including greater border security, the departure of three million illegal immigrants from the country, the location of 145,000 minors, and improvements in the response of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to disasters. The official assured that these actions also allowed to save about 13 billion dollars to taxpayers and strengthen the work of the United States Coast Guard. The publication came shortly after reports of changes in the leadership of the United States Department of Homeland Security became known.
