Santo Domingo.- The competition for the Miss Universe Dominican Republic crown has entered its decisive stage with the celebration of the preliminary competition, an event in which the 35 candidates showcased their skills, elegance, and stage presence before the jury, in a day that heightened anticipation ahead of the grand finale.
The preliminary gala, considered one of the decisive stages of the pageant, allowed the contestants to earn vital points through their performance on the runway and their poise before the panel of judges, leaving an intense battle open to become the new Dominican beauty queen.
The event was hosted by official hosts Marielva Hernández and Adalberto Crespo, while the music and entertainment were provided by Mery tu loba, Lemar, and Patty Mol, who rounded out the evening with their artistic performances.
The director of Miss Universe Dominican Republic, Magali Febles, highlighted the commitment and preparation of the candidates during the competition process.

“We are more than ready for the great historic night, where we will celebrate in grand style seven decades of legacy and excellence of our pageant. Furthermore, I feel proud of the intense preparation of our candidates, who have worked with absolute determination to achieve excellence and shine with their own light on the runway,” she expressed.

The day also evidenced the public’s support for the event. The massive attendance exceeded the organization’s initial expectations, which had to provide additional seating to accommodate the fans who came to witness this important phase of the competition up close.
The evaluation of the candidates was in the hands of a select group of judges composed of lawyer and businesswoman Sulin de Glass; Miss Dominican Republic Universe 2012, Carlina Durán; fashion designer Jusef Sánchez; international model and Reina Hispanoamericana Dominican Republic, Criselys García; singer Bonny Cepeda; fashion designer and CEO of Miss World Dominican Republic, Diany Mota, and the vice president of Mister International, Anthony Santana.
After concluding the preliminary competition, the 35 candidates are now heading toward the most anticipated night of the pageant, in which one of them will be crowned as the new Miss Universe Dominican Republic and will assume the responsibility of representing the country on the international stage.

The grand finale will be held this Thursday, July 30th, at the National Theater, in a night that, in addition to crowning the new sovereign, will feature performances by Magic Juan, Ebenezer Guerra, and Dalvin La Melodía, as part of a production that promises to celebrate in style the 70-year history and legacy of the beauty pageant.
