National University of Colombia evacuates Bogotá campus after bomb threat

Bogotá, Colombia. – The National University of Colombia declared an orange alert and ordered the preventive evacuation of its main headquarters in Bogotá after a group of hooded individuals broke into the campus and allegedly threatened to activate explosive devices inside the facilities. According to reports from the institution, the individuals entered the Human Sciences building carrying pamphlets and insignias associated with groups that identified themselves as structures linked to the FARC dissidents. The hooded individuals allegedly demanded the evacuation of the area after warning about the supposed installation of explosives. Upon learning of the situation, university authorities activated emergency protocols and declared an orange alert to ensure the safety of students, faculty, and administrative staff. The measure included the preventive evacuation of several campus areas while the threat was being assessed.

According to information released by Colombian media, a group of students and professors surrounded the hooded individuals and demanded that they leave the premises peacefully, preventing further incidents from occurring within the university. The National University rejected the events and pointed out that these types of actions seek to generate fear and interrupt the normal development of academic activities. Likewise, it urged the university community to remain calm and follow the guidelines issued by the emergency teams and the official channels of the institution. So far, the authorities have not reported the location of explosives or any arrests related to the incident. However, the situation led to the temporary suspension of activities while verification and control work was carried out on campus.
