Netanyahu will address negotiations on Iran with Trump at their meeting in Washington on Wednesday

Jerusalem .- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will meet next Wednesday in Washington with US President Donald Trump to discuss the situation of the negotiations with Iran. “The Prime Minister believes that any negotiation must include the limitation of ballistic missiles and the end of support for the Iranian axis,” stated a statement released by the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office. Netanyahu’s words come after the United States resumed negotiations with the Iranian regime in Oman last Friday regarding its nuclear program, amid threats from Trump to intervene militarily in the Persian country. The truth is that the Israeli leader this very week asked the White House’s special envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, that an agreement with Iran must include the end of the nuclear program and the limitation of its ballistic missiles and its support for the regional groups of Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis of Yemen.

The Negotiations Between the United States and Iran

While the United States and Iran described Friday’s talks as “good,” Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reiterated this Saturday that their red lines are zero enrichment or the limitation of their missile program. “It’s a purely defensive matter for us and is not negotiable, neither now nor in the future,” he asserted. The only thing Iran is willing to negotiate is the enrichment level, according to the Iranian minister. These negotiations are taking place at one of the lowest points in the Islamic Republic, after experiencing in January the most violent protests since its founding in 1979, amid a serious economic crisis, strong public discontent, its worst drought in decades, and shortages of electricity and gas.
