Person enters Metro tracks at Juan Pablo Duarte station; emergency protocol activated

Santo Domingo. The Metropolitan Transport Company (EMT) reported that an incident occurred this Tuesday night at the Juan Pablo Duarte station of Line 1 of the Santo Domingo Metro, after a person voluntarily entered the track area as a train was entering the platform.

According to the entity, the incident occurred around 10:15 at night, which forced the immediate activation of the security protocol established for these types of situations.

As part of the preventive measures, the platform was evacuated immediately and the 9-1-1 National Emergency and Security Response System was notified, whose teams arrived at the scene to provide assistance.

So far, the EMT has not offered details regarding the identity of the person involved or their health status. It has also not reported whether the incident caused prolonged interruptions to the Metro service.
