Santo Domingo.- The former point guard of the senior national basketball team, Edgar Sosa, will wear the jersey of the Club Doctor Rafael Barias from the popular Villa Consuelo sector in the capital in the 2025 edition of the Superior Men’s Basketball Tournament of the National District (TBS DISTRITO 2025), which is scheduled to begin next Monday, September 15th.
The stellar and veteran 37-year-old player will participate in this way for the first time in the country’s top basketball tournament with the team that will be led by the renowned coach Yoel Feliz and who will go this season after their fifth crown.
Sosa comes from seeing action for the first time with the Indios de San Francisco de Macorís in the National Basketball League (LNB), a team that reached the semifinal stage where they fell to the Metros de Santiago.

In the regular season with the Indians, the guard averaged 9.4 points per game, with 1.9 rebounds and 0.6 steals, while shooting 41% from the field and finishing third in the made three-pointers department with 38 and eighth in assists with 3.2 per game, in 21 minutes per game.
Prior to his arrival at the Francomacorisano team, the former starting member of the “People’s Selection” also played (2013) with the Leones de Santo Domingo in the LNB.
The point guard graduated from the University of Louisville, where he averaged 9.6 points, 1.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game for four years, has played in the first division leagues of Italy, Germany, Spain, Israel, Egypt, Iran, Puerto Rico, among others and on September 25, 2015, signed a contract for the NBA with the Atlanta Hawks, but did not make the team.
Sosa, born and raised in New York City, but the son of Dominican parents, has 15 years of experience in the sport of hoops and the ball.
Will be part of a talented group that includes the American center-forward Austin Trice, as an international reinforcement; guard Bryan Ramírez Saviñón (Brayotin), forwards Eusebio Suero, Dimas Carrasco, Kelvin Fulcar, Ángel Alfonseca, Willy Arias and the veteran Juan Bautista Araujo, as well as point guards Yeison Rivera and Luis López, among others.
The “Barias” has been crowned champion of the capital’s superior basketball in the editions of 2009, 2013, 2017 and 2019.
