Santo Domingo.- The National Police reported that they are making progress in the investigations into the death of basketball player Yeury Rodríguez Batista, 30, who passed away after receiving a gunshot wound to the chest during an incident that occurred on Benito González Street, in the San Carlos sector.
The institution’s spokesperson, Diego Pesqueira, explained that the young man was with a friend installing a speaker when he was intercepted by a person traveling on a motorcycle.
Pesqueira indicated that, according to preliminary information, the attacker stripped the victim of several belongings, including a chain, before shooting him.
In that sense, a police spokesperson stated that investigation agents are conducting surveys and interviews, including the person who was accompanying Rodríguez at the time of the incident, in addition to following up on cameras and other evidence to identify the person responsible.

Pesqueira expressed his sorrow over the young man’s passing, whom he said he had known since birth due to his connection with the San Carlos Club. He assured that the authorities have made significant progress in the investigative process and that they will provide more details in due course, as the inquiries advance.
