Santo Domingo.- The president Luis Abinader held a lunch this Friday with the members of the Dominican Episcopal Conference (CED), in a meeting aimed at continuing to promote joint actions in favor of the social welfare of the country. The activity took place at the Casa Arquidiocesana María de la Altagracia, where the president was received by the bishop of the new Diocese Stella Maris, Monsignor Manuel Ruiz, and by the rector of the Casa, Father Israel Craviotto. The head of state was received with an emotional and warm welcome by a choir of sisters from the community, who sang a special welcoming chorus to the leader.

Upon uttering a few brief words, President Luis Abinader thanked the sisters for their welcome, highlighting the importance of their prayers to continue working in favor of the Dominican people. Likewise, he expressed his gratitude for the gesture received.

“There can be no better welcome, thank you very much, may God bless you. And I do want to ask you to keep me in your prayers, each one of you, with God, me and the whole family, so that we can work in favor of the Dominican people, which is what we do every minute, every day, every hour, if we have those prayers, it helps us much more,” expressed the president.    The luncheon was attended by the apostolic nuncio in Santo Domingo, Monsignor Piergiorgio Bertoldi; the archbishop of Santiago, Monsignor Héctor Rafael Rodríguez; the archbishop of Santo Domingo, Monsignor Tomás Morel Diplán; as well as the bishops of La Altagracia, Monsignor Jesús Castro Marte; of Puerto Plata, Monsignor Julio César Corniel Amaro; of Barahona, Monsignor Andrés Napoleón Romero Cárdenas; of San Pedro de Macorís, Monsignor Santiago Rodríguez Rodríguez; of San Juan de la Maguana, Monsignor Tomás Alejo Concepción, and of San Francisco de Macorís, Monsignor Ramón Alfredo de la Cruz Baldera. Also participated Monsignor Faustino Burgos Brisman, Monsignor José Amable Durán Tineo, Monsignor Amauris Rosario, Monsignor Benito Ángeles, Monsignor José Dolores Grullón and Father José Joaquín Domínguez Ureña.
