A hypothetical US attack to seize control of Greenland would bring about the end of NATO, warned the Prime Minister of Denmark, Mette Frederiksen. “I want to make it clear that if the United States decides to militarily attack another NATO country, everything will stop. Including our NATO and, with it, the security that has been provided since the end of the Second World War,” he stated to local media. Frederiksen added that she is doing everything possible “to prevent that from happening”. “I believe in democracy and in the rules of the international game. And I also believe that borders cannot be changed in one way or another,” she added.

Trump’s Desire to Control Greenland
Donald Trump is still determined to get Greenland to become part of the United States “one way or another”, arguing that ships from numerous nations sail near the country’s northern coast, so Washington must “be careful”. “Yes, we need Greenland, absolutely. We need it for our defense,” the US president insisted in his latest statements on the matter. Last Saturday, Katie Miller, wife of White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, posted an image of a map of Greenland colored with the colors of the American flag with the caption “soon”. The Prime Minister of Greenland, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, called the photo “disrespectful” and confirmed that the country “is not for sale.” In turn, the Prime Minister of Denmark urged Trump to “stop threatening” Greenland. “It makes no sense to talk about the need for the US to take over Greenland. The US has no right to annex one of the three countries of the Danish Commonwealth,” she specified.
