Santo Domingo.— In commemoration of World Breastfeeding Week, PrimerizaRD will hold a new edition of “Let’s Talk About Breastfeeding 2026”, an educational initiative that will bring together mothers, fathers, families, health professionals, and individuals interested in promoting informed, sustainable, and supported breastfeeding.
The meetings will take place under the 2026 international theme: “Breastfeeding for a sustainable start in life: strengthening what works”, highlighting the importance of strengthening actions, policies, family networks, and professional spaces that allow mothers to initiate and maintain breastfeeding with reliable information and timely support.
“With Let’s Talk About Breastfeeding, we want every mother and every family to feel supported from pregnancy, during the baby’s first days, and when facing challenges like returning to work. Breastfeeding should not depend solely on the mother’s individual effort; it needs information, empathy, and a true support network,” expressed Alfania Mendoza, founder of PrimerizaRD, prenatal educator, and certified lactation consultant.
First day at Acropolis Business Mall
The activity on August 1st will include the keynote lecture “Breastfeeding in its early stages: what every family should know”, delivered by Dr. Jasmely Castillo, a pro-breastfeeding pediatrician.
During their presentation, topics such as the first hour of life, skin-to-skin contact, the production and benefits of colostrum, the establishment of breast milk, correct latching, recommended positions, and the signs that allow for identifying effective milk transfer will be addressed.

Subsequently, Alfania Mendoza will present the lecture “Breastfeeding and returning to work”, focused on preparation during maternity leave, safe milk expression and storage, creating a home milk bank, family organization, and strategies to continue breastfeeding after returning to work.
The event will also feature the discussion “Let’s Talk About Breastfeeding: Myths and Realities”, moderated by Maria Laura Carpio, with the participation of Nathali Castillo, perinatal psychologist; Dr. Jhanna Henríquez, pediatrician, and Angie Sánchez, breastfeeding counselor.
The panel will address frequently asked questions such as “do I have low milk supply?”, “should I breastfeed every three hours?” and “does formula help the baby sleep better?”, in addition to discussing nighttime breastfeeding, maternal mental health, the role of the partner, and Dominican cultural myths that can influence family decisions.

The programming will include open Q&A sessions, a commercial exhibition area, partner brand activities, networking, raffles, and giveaways.

Second day at Megacentro
As an extension of this educational initiative, on Saturday, August 8th, PrimerizaRD will bring “Let’s Talk About Breastfeeding 2026” to Santo Domingo Este.
The first lecture, “Preparation for successful breastfeeding from pregnancy”, will be given by Alfania Mendoza and will guide families on the physiological changes related to breastfeeding, realistic expectations for the first few days, emotional preparation for the postpartum period, the creation of a support network, and the development of a breastfeeding plan before birth.
Dr. Katerin Franco, a pediatrician, will be in charge of the lecture “Establishing breastfeeding from the first days”, in which she will explain the importance of the golden hour, skin-to-skin contact, colostrum, demand feeding, breastfeeding positions, and the signs that indicate if the baby is receiving enough milk.
The day will conclude with a Q&A session with the specialists, acknowledgments to the partner brands, raffles, gift giveaways, and an official photograph.
With these activities, PrimerizaRD reaffirms its commitment to bringing evidence-based information to Dominican families and creating spaces where mothers can express their doubts, receive professional guidance, and feel supported without judgment.
