Santo Domingo.– The Public Ministry reported the arrest of a man investigated for his alleged connection to several crimes, including high-tech crimes, smuggling, customs fraud, illegal possession of firearms, drug trafficking, and money laundering.
The detainee, identified as Pedro Fernández Jerez, was apprehended at the Cibao International Airport, in Santiago, as he was preparing to board a flight bound for Philadelphia, allegedly with the intention of evading the judicial process against him.
The arrest was executed by the Fugitive, Rebel, and Convict Capture Unit (Ucaprec), led by prosecutor Andry De Los Santos, in compliance with arrest warrant No. 2026-AJ0047809, issued by judge Cecilia Toribio Melo, of the Judicial Office of Permanent Attention Services of Santo Domingo Oeste.
According to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, Fernández Jerez is being investigated for alleged violations of Law 631-16, on the Control and Regulation of Weapons, Ammunition and Related Materials; the General Customs Law No. 168-21, for alleged customs fraud and smuggling; and Law 53-07 on High-Tech Crimes and Offenses.

Likewise, he faces an investigation for alleged violations of Law 50-88 on Drugs and Controlled Substances and Law 155-17 against Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing, to the detriment of the Dominican State.
