Santo Domingo.– Dozens of retired and pensioned teachers demonstrated this Tuesday in front of the headquarters of the National Institute for Teacher Welfare (Inabima) to demand compliance with Law 87-01 and reject changes to the deductions applied to the Survivor and Disability Insurance.
The protest was led by members of the Federation of Associations of Retired and Pensioned Teachers (Fedamapej), who denounced that the proposal to reduce the deduction to 2% does not comply with what is established in current legislation.
The president of Fedamapej, Gregorio Corporán, stated that Law 87-01 establishes that the deduction for the Survivors and Disability Insurance must be 1%, which is why he considered that the measure proposed by the Inabima authorities maintains a situation he described as irregular.
During the gathering, the protesters carried signs and requested that Inabima respect legal provisions and ensure that the deductions applied to retired teachers are carried out in accordance with regulations.
