Ricardo de los Santos leads Senate recognition of journalist Fremio Ortiz

Santo Domingo.– The President of the Senate of the Republic, Ricardo de los Santos, led this Wednesday the recognition ceremony for journalist Rafael Fremio Ortiz for his more than 50-year career in journalism. During the ceremony, the bishop of the diocese of San Pedro de Macorís, the historian, ambassador, and journalist José Pérez Memén, and the composer José Torres were also honored.

The awards ceremony took place in the Reynaldo Pared Pérez Hall of the Senate of the Republic.

During the tribute to Fremio Ortiz, a native of San José de Ocoa, his contributions to national journalism, his work in disseminating the events and needs of his province, as well as his participation in the process that culminated in the elevation of San José de Ocoa to the category of province, were highlighted.

Likewise, he was recognized for his career as a member of the Dominican College of Journalists (CDP) and the National Union of Press Workers (SNTP), in addition to his professional and family legacy.
