Samaná.-The Director of School Infrastructure, Roberto Herrera Polanco, led an important meeting this Thursday with provincial authorities, representatives of the education sector, and community leaders of Samaná, where he heard firsthand the main needs affecting the province’s educational centers and committed to promoting concrete solutions for the benefit of the educational community.
The meeting, held in the auditorium of the Provincial Government of Samaná, was attended by the provincial governor, Teodora Mullix Geraldino; Carlos Martínez, head of Social and Community Empowerment of the School Infrastructure Directorate; representatives of the Dominican Association of Teachers (ADP); district directors; as well as contractor engineers responsible for various school projects in the province.
During his speech, Herrera highlighted that quality education must be supported by safe, modern, and optimal infrastructure, which is why he reaffirmed his willingness to follow up on each of the needs raised by the different sectors present.
The official stated that his administration is focused on ensuring that the country’s educational centers have adequate spaces for the teaching-learning process, assuring that the demands presented during the meeting will be evaluated and addressed within the planning of the institution he leads.
As part of the commitments made, Roberto Herrera announced that within a period of no more than two months, a new follow-up meeting will be held to evaluate the progress achieved and take stock of the actions executed in favor of the school infrastructure in the province.
Likewise, he highlighted that these efforts respond to the commitment made by the Ministry of Education and the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, to continue strengthening Dominican education through dignified and safe facilities for students and teachers. In that sense, he affirmed that the School Infrastructure Directorate works day by day to improve educational centers throughout the national territory, promoting the integration and coordination of the different sectors that influence Dominican education.
Herrera also reiterated his permanent willingness to listen to the authorities, the Dominican Association of Teachers (ADP), school principals, and the communities, convinced that dialogue and joint work are fundamental to achieving effective and sustainable solutions.
The provincial governor of Samaná, Teodora Mullix Geraldino, positively valued the visit of the director of School Infrastructure and highlighted the commitment shown by Roberto Herrera to the needs of the province. Likewise, she highlighted the follow-up carried out by the Provincial Government to manage solutions to the challenges facing the education sector in terms of infrastructure.

During the meeting, the director of the 14-04 Educational District of Samaná, Adalberta Lucía Calcaño Maldonado, presented the main needs of the educational centers in the main municipality. Likewise, the district directors of Sánchez and Las Terrenas outlined the priorities of their respective areas, allowing for the establishment of a joint work agenda aimed at finding solutions.
The activity also featured the presence of Roberto Encarnación, provincial president of the ADP, along with the municipal presidents of the union in Sánchez and Las Terrenas, who valued the openness shown by the director of School Infrastructure to listen to the concerns of the education sector.
The participants agreed that the meeting represented an important step for the strengthening of school infrastructure in Samaná, reaching a consensus on the most urgent priorities and establishing a joint roadmap between the authorities, the educational community, and the School Infrastructure Directorate.
With this visit, Roberto Herrera establishes a follow-up and action plan that renews the hopes of the Samaná educational sector, reaffirming his commitment to working alongside authorities and communities to drive significant improvements in educational centers throughout the province.
