A few days ago, Deadline announced that the protagonist of ‘Jojo Rabbit‘, ‘Black Widow‘, ‘Fly Me to the Moon‘ and ‘Jurassic World: The Renewal‘ would also be the protagonist of the next ‘The Exorcist’ movie, which, let’s remember, will be produced, written and directed by Mike Flanagan, responsible for, among others, the recent ‘The Life of Chuck‘.
And now the same media outlet reports that Scarlett Johansson is also negotiating her participation in ‘The Batman – Part II’, the expected sequel to ‘The Batman’ to be released in theaters around the world, if there are no further delays and everything goes well, on October 1, 2027.
Although nothing has been signed yet, the aforementioned media outlet assures that the actress and her team have been coordinating their schedules for weeks so that she can juggle the filming of both projects. It has not been revealed what role the actress would play, as any details about the sequel are currently unknown. However, according to what has been discussed during this time, it is planned that Andy Serkis, Jeffrey Wright, Colin Farrell, and Paul Dano will be returning along with Robert Pattinson. Once again directed by Matt Reeves from a screenplay also written by Mattson Tomlin, the filming of ‘The Batman – Part II’ is scheduled for next spring. And it will do so with Erik Messerschmidt (‘Mindhunter’, ‘The Killer’) replacing Greig Fraser as director of photography, as confirmed by Reeves himself via his Twitter account. Let’s remember that Johansson has recently debuted as a screenwriter and director with ‘Eleanor the Great’, a dramatic comedy starring June Squibb and Chiwetel Ejiofor, which we still don’t know how or when it will be released in Spain. Among his upcoming projects is ‘Paper Tiger’, a tense and raw thriller written and directed by James Gray that revolves around two brothers (Adam Driver and Miles Teller) who, in their pursuit of the American dream, will be involved, according to the official version, in a plot too good to be true. In addition, Johansson is rumored to play Mother Gothel in the live-action remake of ‘Tangled‘ which will be directed by Michael Gracey – responsible for ‘The Greatest Showman‘ and ‘Better Man‘-.
