Founded in 2012, Sunrise Airways has consistently developed a regional air network connecting Caribbean capitals and islands that share common economic, cultural, and tourist links. Sunrise Airways Dominicana SRL has been certified since 2019. Since its creation, the airline has transported almost 1.85 million passengers to destinations such as Port-au-Prince, Cap-Haïtien, Les Cayes, Jérémie, Santo Domingo, Havana, Santiago de Cuba, Holguín, Camagüey, Guadeloupe, Panama, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Providenciales, and Saint Martin.
As part of its expansion into the Eastern Caribbean launched in April 2024, Sunrise Airways now connects Antigua, Saint Kitts, Dominica, and Saint Lucia, supporting the airline’s vision of a more integrated region under its “One Caribbean” concept.

In the central words of the inaugural flight, Rafael Rincón Montisano, Marketing and Communications Director, expressed that ¨This marks only the beginning of this new stage of Sunrise in the Dominican Republic. For us it is fundamental, it is part of our DNA, because we travel to connect people. We are not only opening a first-class tourist destination in the Caribbean region such as Antigua, but we are also opening opportunities and doors for these entrepreneurial travelers, for the business sector, for the promotion of the economy of our nations, and of course for our beloved and loved diaspora when we give them one more reason to stay closer to us with these direct and regular flights twice a week¨.
The inaugural service from Santo Domingo to Antigua and Tortola starting in early March 2026 represents another step forward in bringing the Caribbean islands closer together. It supports tourism, business travel, and regional communities, including Caribbean and Dominican families who live and work throughout the region, offering new and practical travel options. This new connection is part of Sunrise Airways’ broader strategy to continue expanding inter-Caribbean routes, with additional destinations to be announced in the coming months.
