Santo Domingo.– The Joint Task Force reported that the cumulative homicide rate in the country stood at 6.92 per 100,000 inhabitants, the lowest figure recorded for this period in the last four years, according to the weekly crime statistics report as of July 3, 2026.
The report indicates that the monthly homicide rate stands at 3.33 per 100,000 inhabitants, a result it attributes to the preventive, operational, and investigative efforts carried out in a coordinated manner by the National Police, the Armed Forces, the Public Ministry, and the other agencies that make up the Joint Task Force.
Likewise, it points out that 28 territories in the country maintain single-digit homicide rates, while only six record double-digit figures, which means that 82.4% of the national territory has a rate equal to or lower than 9.99 homicides per 100,000 inhabitants.
Statistics also reflect a sustained reduction of this indicator in recent years. For the same period, the cumulative rate went from 12.29 in 2023 to 9.96 in 2024, 8.27 in 2025, and 6.92 in 2026, a decrease that authorities attribute to the strengthening of prevention strategies, crime prosecution, and timely responses to criminality.
