Santo Domingo. – The National Commission for the Governance of Teacher Performance Evaluation (EDD) announced that this Tuesday, June 9, it will begin the fifth and final stage of the evaluation process, corresponding to the Professional Performance Exercise (ERP), considered one of the fundamental components to measure the performance of teachers in the pre-university public system.
The commission explained that this phase will be developed through a gradual and phased implementation strategy, designed to ensure organized, efficient, and safe execution throughout the national territory.
In this stage, more than 115,000 teachers will participate, who will be evaluated in 122 centers enabled in the different provinces of the country. The incorporation of the participants will be carried out progressively, until completing the 39 positions contemplated within the national evaluation model.
Evaluation focused on professional practice
According to the National Governing Commission, the Professional Performance Exercise will allow for the collection of evidence regarding teachers’ ability to analyze, interpret, and respond to situations linked to their educational work, taking as a reference the Professional and Performance Standards for the Development of the Teaching Career.

The authorities highlighted that the process seeks to go beyond individual performance measurement, promoting reflection on pedagogical practice, professional strengthening, and the continuous improvement of educational quality.
Likewise, they indicated that the gradual approach will facilitate permanent monitoring of the implementation, as well as technical support for participants to ensure the proper development of each session.
Progress in the preliminary stages
The commission reported that it recently concluded the fourth phase of the process, corresponding to the Evaluation of Diverse Actors (EDA), which reached a compliance level of 99.30%, allowing for the collection of assessments on teaching performance from different perspectives.

Similarly, the stage related to class observation and pedagogical planning concluded, in which 74,868 teachers were evaluated out of the 78,462 planned, equivalent to 95.4% of the established goal.
The National Governing Commission is composed of the Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic (MINERD), the Dominican Association of Teachers (ADP), and the National Association of Education Professionals and Technicians (AMPROTED).
The Teacher Performance Evaluation was declared a high priority through Departmental Order 50-2025 and aims to assess competencies, strengthen the teaching profession, and contribute to the improvement of educational quality in the country.
