Santo Domingo.– The National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif), reported this Thursday the destruction of more than 1,400 kilograms of different drugs and controlled substances, as part of the actions developed in the fight against drug trafficking in the country.
According to a report from the institution, a total of 1,416 kilograms, 268 grams, and 220 milligrams of drugs analyzed in the Inacif laboratories were destroyed, corresponding to substances seized in operations carried out by law enforcement agencies.
Among the destroyed substances are 629 kilograms, 263 grams, and 311 milligrams of cocaine hydrochloride; 474 kilograms and 240 grams of methorphan; 289 kilograms, 598 grams, and 420 milligrams of marijuana, as well as 15 kilograms, 319 grams, and 630 milligrams of hashish.
Also, 6 kilograms, 674 grams, and 518 milligrams of crack were seized; 1 kilogram, 118 grams, and 581 milligrams of ecstasy; as well as 35 grams and 90 milligrams of ketamine and 18 grams and 670 milligrams of alprazolam.
The report also indicates that 28 kilograms, 132 grams, and 5 milligrams of uncontrolled substances were destroyed, corresponding to negative cases.
According to Inacif, the total weight of the positive and negative substances amounts to 1,444 kilograms, 400 grams, and 225 milligrams, linked to 1,028 processed cases.
The entity highlighted that, so far in the year 2026, 15,139 kilograms and 796 grams of different types of drugs have been destroyed.
The activity takes place every Thursday at the facilities of Military Camp 16 de Agosto, headquarters of the General Command of the Dominican Republic Army, located in the municipality of Pedro Brand.
In the act, representatives from different State institutions participate and it is carried out in compliance with Law 50-88 on Drugs and Controlled Substances and Organic Law of the Public Ministry No. 133-11.
