Ukraine has repatriated, thanks to negotiations with Russia facilitated by the International Committee of the Red Cross, the mortal remains of a thousand fallen Ukrainian soldiers whose bodies had been left in the hands of the Russian Army. According to an announcement made this Thursday in a statement by the Ukrainian state body in charge of repatriating bodies and prisoners of war, the return of these deceased individuals takes place after Ukraine and Russia began their first direct negotiations mediated by the US in Abu Dhabi since the beginning of the war. Meetings, which may contribute to ending the war, are expected to resume on Sunday in the capital of the United Arab Emirates.

In previous rounds of negotiations, both sides have already intensified the exchanges of fallen soldiers and prisoners of war that Kyiv and Moscow carry out regularly. The bodies received by Ukraine this Thursday will now be subjected to identification tests to be later delivered to their respective families.
