Pope Leo XIV will attend this Saturday the sixth edition of the annual concert with the Poor in which the Canadian Michael Bubble will sing in the Paul VI hall of the Vatican and, upon receiving them today in audience, he assured that “music is a form of love”.

Of the approximate capacity of 8,000 seats, 3,000 will be reserved for the most disadvantaged people: homeless people, migrants, prisoners with special permits, and people in situations of social vulnerability. Rows are reserved for them as “guests of honor” of the event and a dinner will be offered to them at the end. He explained that this type of event “reminds us that the dignity of men and women is not measured by what they possess: we are not our possessions or our things, but beloved children of God; and this same love must be the measure of our actions towards our neighbor. Therefore, in our Concert, the most fragile brothers and sisters take first place”. The Concert with the Poor, he added, “is not just a performance by talented artists or a simple musical event, however beautiful it may be, nor even a moment of solidarity to ease our consciences in the face of the injustices of society” but rather an event in which “we would remember the words of the Lord: ‘Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.'” And he joked as he asked them: “Please, sing well tomorrow!”. “Sing and play with art and, above all, with your heart, because music can truly represent a form of love”. In the concert will perform in addition to Bubble, the director Marco Frisina along with the Choir of the Diocese of Rome, the Orchestra and the Nova Opera Foundation.
