Azua. – The Judicial District of Azua imposed on January 9, 2026, coercive measures against Ángel Luis Morón Méndez, identified as responsible for the hit-and-run that caused the death of retired professor Rafael Eugenio Rosó Silverio, an event that occurred in the center of this city. During the hearing held at the Peace Court of the Judicial District of Azua, Judge Carmen Amelia Beltré ordered periodic presentation for six (6) months, in addition to an economic guarantee of RD$500,000, under the modality of a bail contract. The decision was issued through resolution No. 0001, after accepting the request of the Public Ministry, represented by prosecutor Lucas Vargas.

The case has generated consternation among the Azua population, as it involves an event that occurred in a central and busy area, rekindling the debate on road safety and the responsibility of drivers. Authorities reported that the judicial process continues in accordance with the law, while family members and community members of the deceased hope that justice will be served.
