The death of content creator María Eugenia Reyes Morales, known as “La MiAmor”, during a massacre in Villa Canales, Guatemala, has left a profound impact on the digital world and among the local community.
The incident, which occurred on the night of July 25, ended the lives of six people and sparked a wave of shock among the followers of the content creator, who enjoyed popularity on TikTok for her humorous videos alongside her son known as “ElPako“.
At first, it was believed that “El Pako” was among the fatalities; however, it has not been officially confirmed. Meanwhile, the content creator posted a video this Sunday the 26th in the morning on his TikTok account where he simply stated: “My beautiful love, I will always love you, my beautiful life. I adore you. You will always be the love of my life. My love.”
Although he was believed to be among the fatalities, Pako posted a video on TikTok to say goodbye to La MiAmor.
He accompanied the video with the following caption: “In another life we will fulfill our dreams together. Thank you for loving me so much and for supporting my madness, my love,” in which he tagged his mother, who was known as “LaMiAmor” in the digital world.
Expressions of condolence and support were not long in coming. Followers of “El Pako” took advantage of the video posted to express their affection and condolences to the content creator.
Victims identified
The National Civil Police (PNC) put the number of fatalities at six and identified them as:
- Lester Joel García, 23 years old
- Kevin Antonio Bol Pichiya, 18
- Boris Ariel Tello Reyes, 29
- José Antonio Juárez Orellana, 20
- María Heugenia Reyes Morales, 58
And a 17-year-old teenager, identified only as Ramos Monterroso.

According to the police report, to which Infobae had access, witnesses detailed that the family was celebrating the birthday of “LaMiAmor”, in a home located at 8th Avenue and 2nd Street in zone 2 of Boca del Monte, Guatemala.
Although the residence’s gate was closed, the festivities were taking place with the front door open, witnesses told the National Civil Police (PNC), but one of the attendees opened the gate to set off firecrackers. That moment was taken advantage of by intruders who were waiting for the right time to attack.
The laughter changed in a matter of minutes and the celebration turned into a scene of horror when armed subjects burst into the event and fired at the attendees.
In a matter of minutes, the celebration turned into a tragedy. Relief agencies and the National Civil Police confirmed that six people died at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds.
The National Civil Police identified six fatal victims of the massacre in Boca del Monte, among them María Eugenia Reyes Morales.
Among the victims was Reyes Morales, 59, whose presence on social media had made her a beloved figure. Her passing was quickly shared and mourned on digital platforms, where her followers were quick to express messages of sadness and demands for justice.
Who was “La MiAmor”
With more than 40 thousand followers on TikTok, “La MiAmor” had made a name for herself through her videos portraying daily life in Guatemala, always with a tone of humor and relatability.

Many of her videos were recorded with her son, known as Pako, creating sketches that showcased the complicity and affection in their mother-son relationship.

The news of her murder sparked an immediate reaction on social media, where users lamented the event and remembered her digital legacy. The online community not only mourned the creator’s passing but also denounced the escalation of violence plaguing the country.
Injuries and response from the authorities
The attack also left two people seriously injured: Verónica Velázquez Linares, 34, and Francisco Tello Loarca, 62. Both received urgent medical attention and were transported to a hospital, where their condition remains under reserved prognosis.
The National Civil Police and experts from the Public Ministry cordoned off the area after the attack to collect ballistic evidence and advance in the formal identification of the victims.
The authorities have launched an investigation to clarify the motive for the crime and identify those responsible. At the moment, no details have been released regarding possible suspects or arrests related to the case.
Demand security
For his part, the mayor of Villa Canales, Ramiro Rivera, published a shocked video in which he criticized the authorities of the National Civil Police and the Justice System, arguing that citizen insecurity is on the rise, but they as local authorities have their “hands tied“.

“Once again the streets of our town are stained with blood,” he stated and cited at least three shootings in different parts of the Villa Canales municipality. The mayor made an “urgent” call to the Presidency of the Republic, the ministries of Government and Defense, the PNC, and deputies to debate and take action regarding security.
He also announced that summons will be issued from Congress, “because we cannot go on like this, neighbors.”
“I cannot judge if they are hardworking people or are involved in illicit matters, what we see is that for the moment there is mourning in our town, there are lives being lost,” stated Rivera.
The mayor of Villa Canales, Ramiro Rivera, published a video on his social media where he demanded actions from the Presidency, the PNC, and the justice system due to the insecurity in the municipality.
It is a subject that many neighbors have complained to me about, saying that I do not do anything, (when) I have been working, (but) as Municipal Police we cannot consign, we cannot put people in the can (jail),” he pointed out, very annoyed.
