Tokischa responds to Lápiz Conciente’s warning about the use of samples: “I’ll take my lawsuit calmly.”

Santo Domingo.-Dominican rapper Lápiz Conciente sent a message to the new exponents of the urban genre about the use of “samples”, that is, fragments of existing songs used in new productions. During a live Instagram broadcast, the artist explained that he is aware of several tracks in which his voice appears, despite never having recorded with the performers who released those songs. However, he clarified that for the moment he is only observing the situation. The interpreter assured that he will begin to take action when those issues reach great popularity. According to what he expressed, he will evaluate actions when the songs that use his material without authorization become hits. Following those statements, Dominican rapper Tokischa reacted on social media. Her comment came after her new single with artist Ezzy R was mentioned, which begins with the chorus of the song “Tú no ere’ de na'” by Lápiz Conciente, released in 2012, and includes the same musical track.

In a message posted on her digital platforms, Tokischa defended the use of the musical resource and explained that when a sample is taken, it is usually done as a sign of respect towards the artists who served as inspiration. “I support that if one takes you as a sample it’s out of respect & admiration, not for lack of talent,” wrote the singer. The interpreter also responded with humor to the possibility of facing legal action. “I’ll take my lawsuit calmly,” she wrote in an Instagram story in which she appears performing the song during her presentation at the Picnic Festival 2026 in San José, as part of her “Body High Tour,” where she also reiterated that the reference to Lápiz is a tribute to his career and not a lack of respect or a sign of lack of creativity.
