Washington.– The President of the United States, Donald Trump, strongly criticized the resolution passed by the House of Representatives that seeks to limit his ability to continue military operations against Iran without express authorization from Congress, calling the measure “unpatriotic” and “nonsensical”.
The initiative was approved by a narrow vote of 215 in favor and 208 against, with the backing of all Democratic lawmakers and four Republican congressmen who broke ranks with their party. The resolution is supported by the War Powers Act of 1973, which establishes limits on the president’s military actions without the approval of the Legislative Branch.
Through his Truth Social platform, Trump harshly questioned the House’s decision and lashed out at the Republicans who supported the measure, whom he labeled as opportunists. The president maintained that the vote took place at a key moment in the negotiations to end the conflict with Iran, and therefore considered that the legislative action harms national interests.
