Washington.- United States President Donald Trump ordered Attorney General Pam Bondi to request the death penalty in Washington DC in all cases that meet the “applicable factors”, in another measure justified under the federal takeover of the capital due to the alleged “uncontrolled crime” it is going through. With this memorandum, Trump seeks to revive the death penalty in the capital, which had been abolished in 1981. The order stipulates that the Attorney General for the District of Columbia shall seek the death penalty in all judicial proceedings where “applicable factors” exist. Furthermore, add that giving priority to this measure deserves special attention in the face of the “threats to public safety” facing the city.

Under this same logic, Trump took federal control over the metropolitan police of the capital since last August 11, deploying thousands of elements of the National Guard and agents from various federal agencies to carry out operations in Washington DC. During the last few weeks, Trump has used the discourse of violence in different cities like Chicago and Los Angeles, with Democratic leaders, to seek federal control over them.
