Washington.- U.S. President Donald Trump stated this Monday that he held a call that “went very well” with British Prime Minister Andy Burnham, in which both discussed oil deposits in the United Kingdom and military cooperation, in addition to confirming that they will meet “in the near future.”
“I had a very good conversation with the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Andy Burnham. We talked about many topics, including the excellent relationship we have maintained with the United Kingdom. We will meet in the near future to discuss matters of mutual interest,” Trump assured in a message on his Truth Social platform.
“We discuss topics such as North Sea oil, trade, the military alliance, the demining of the Strait of Hormuz, and many other issues,” added Trump.
The US president insisted in the final months of the term of Burnham’s predecessor, Keir Starmer, on the error of his Government not exploiting oil reserves in Scotland, which has significant proven crude oil deposits whose exploitation is limited by local regulations.

Trump has also angrily protested the fact that Scotland has opted for the use of wind energy and that the turbines spoil the views on the golf courses he owns there.

In turn, after decades of close military cooperation between London and Washington, the lack of unconditional support from the Starmer Executive in the war against Iran, especially regarding the limitation on the use of British bases for the takeoff of aircraft that have participated in bombings over the Persian country, was also a topic that generated harsh criticism from the New York tycoon towards the former prime minister.
“The call was interesting and went very well. I wished Prime Minister Burnham good luck and success!” wrote Trump in his message, who assured that Burnham, former mayor of Manchester, “has a big task ahead of him” but that he believes “he will be able to carry it out.”
