Twenty years in prison for man who sexually assaulted 13-year-old teenager

Santo Domingo. – In response to the request of the Public Ministry, a court in Santo Domingo Este sentenced a man who sexually assaulted a 13-year-old adolescent, in an incident that occurred in January of this year.

The defendant Johansel Estiven Pérez violated several articles of the Dominican Penal Code, modified by Law 24-97, and others of Law 136-03, which institutes the Code for the Protection of the Fundamental Rights of Children and Adolescents, explained the litigating prosecutor Ignacio Rojas.

The file, prepared by the investigating prosecutor Maribel Fernández, details that on January 15 of this 2025, the adolescent’s parent reported that the aggressor forced the victim to steal for a gang, which he was a member of along with two other accomplices, and that he took advantage of the fact that the girl was going to school to harass and threaten her, until he sexually assaulted her.

The Public Ministry conducted psychological evaluations, consisting of testimonial, expert, procedural, and documentary tests, with which the veracity of the facts could be verified.

By determination of the Second Collegiate Tribunal of Santo Domingo Este, composed of judges Josefina Ubiera Guerrero, Yury Cuevas de la Cruz and José Leonel Ascencio Quezada, the defendant will serve the sentence in the National Penitentiary of La Victoria.
