Santo Domingo.- After analyzing the evidence presented by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, a court sentenced two men to 20 years in prison for the death of another, in an incident that occurred on December 26, 2024, on Anacaona Street, in the Buenos Aires sector of Herrera, in Santo Domingo West.
The 20-year prison sentences were imposed against Jorge Luis Rosario Angomás and Robert Manuel Vásquez Valdez for being responsible for the shooting death of Johnny Yunior Gómez Santos.
Litigating prosecutors Nicasio Pulinario and Francheska Alcántara incorporated into the Fourth Collegiate Court of Santo Domingo Oeste the evidence collected during the investigation conducted by prosecutor Yessica Durán.
During the hearing, lawyers Taína Paredes and Ronny de la Rosa, from the National Service for Legal Representation of Victims’ Rights (Relevic), requested the sum of RD$2,000,000 as compensation payment in favor of the victim’s family, an amount that was approved by the court.
On the day of the incident, the fatal victim was leaving a party when he was intercepted and shot by the defendant Rosario Angomás, who was riding on a motorcycle driven by Vásquez Valdez.

The victim passed away minutes after the incident, due to multiple wounds, as stated in the death certificate.

The defendants were sentenced on charges of being the perpetrator and co-perpetrator of voluntary manslaughter, whose actions are classified under articles 265, 266, 295, and 304, paragraph II, of the Dominican Penal Code.
The court, composed of Judge Leonarda Quezada (presiding), Clara Yoselin Rivera, and Sandra Josefina Cruz, ordered the transfer of the convicted individuals to the Las Parras Correction and Rehabilitation Center (CCR), located in the municipality of San Antonio de Guerra, in the Santo Domingo province.
