Washington.- The U.S. Government announces that the two people injured by ICE in Portland are Venezuelans. The U.S. assured Fox television network this Thursday that the two people injured by agents of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Portland, U.S., are of Venezuelan nationality and justified the event as «an act of self-defense». According to DHS statements to Fox, agents stopped a vehicle in Portland, Oregon, where a Venezuelan immigrant, allegedly linked to a criminal network, was driving and attempted to flee upon identification. Federal authorities justify that the agents shot because the driver allegedly tried to run them over.

Protests over the actions of federal agents

For its part, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) published a statement on X where it confirmed that ICE agents were involved in the event, but later removed it from the platform. The Portland Police Department reported the incident and confirmed that ICE agents were involved in the event, which is under investigation. The two injured people were taken to a local hospital, and their health status and identity are unknown.

The event was recorded 24 hours after an ICE agent shot Renee Good in Minneapolis, whose case has sparked a series of protests against the actions of federal agents and the policy of the President, Donald Trump’s Administration, which has unleashed this type of altercation that has cost the lives of at least seven people in recent months.
