Caracas.– Venezuela’s Executive Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez, said this Wednesday that “the way is not to send ships” nor to threaten “militarily” her country, at a time when the U.S. maintains a naval and air deployment in the Caribbean, which Caracas sees as an attempt to bring about a regime change and to seize its wealth, which the official called to defeat.
“The Venezuelan people are indestructible and the time has come to defend and defeat them definitively, let them understand that the path is different,” declared the official, referring to the United States, during a speech before students of the Venezuelan University of Hydrocarbons.
Rodríguez stated that “The United States has always had in its strategic objectives to take over Venezuela’s energy reserves.”
Furthermore, he accused the leader of the majority opposition in Venezuela, María Corina Machado, of “wanting to hand over” the resources of the South American country, and assured that “she already agreed to it”.

“Understand once and for all that you have no other option than the path of commercial agreement, cooperation,” he warned, to applause from the attendees, during the event broadcast by the state-owned channel Venezolana de Televisión (VTV).
In that sense, it was pointed out that Venezuela has relations with “many energy companies in the world” and highlighted in particular the American company Chevron, which maintains limited oil extraction operations in the country, after receiving a license from the United States Department of the Treasury.
The Venezuelan leader, Nicolás Maduro, stated this Tuesday that the country faces a “decisive juncture for its existence” as a republic, in which, he said, it is “forbidden to fail” in the defense of the nation against “the threats” from the U.S.
