Santo Domingo.– Former senator Vinicio Castillo Semán expressed his support this Friday for citizens who meet the legal requirements to be able to carry firearms for their defense, while criticizing the high cost that, according to him, they have in the Dominican Republic.
Through a post on his X social media account, Castillo stated that he agrees that “hardworking and good people” should be able to obtain a weapon with their legal permit to protect themselves, their families, and their properties.
Likewise, he described it as an “outrage” that, as he indicated, a Glock pistol exceeds RD$800,000 in the Dominican market, while in the United States it would cost approximately US$700.

“I agree that hardworking and good people should be able to have a weapon with their legal permit, to defend themselves, their family, and their property. It is outrageous that buying a Glock pistol costs more than 800 thousand pesos when it is worth 700 dollars in the US. On that, I agree with Santiago Matías.”
