New York. –The production “Dominicana, La Bella”, conceived and directed by Waddys Jáquez and Alberto Zayas, brought together more than 100 artists on stage, including a cast of 40 dancers, a vibrant battalion of Diablos Cojuelos and Lechones, and the stellar participation of great figures of our music: Milly Quezada, Joe Veras, Vakeró and Manny Cruz, who got the audience singing and dancing with a repertoire full of identity and energy, in the heart of Times Square.
Waddys Jáquez and Alberto Zayas proved to be a powerful duo, capable of taking Dominican culture to one of the most emblematic stages in the world, with a staging that fused music, dance and acting in an unprecedented tribute.
The show was made possible thanks to the tireless work of the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs for Dominican Communities Abroad, Celinés Toribio, in partnership with the New York City Transportation Commissioner, Ydanis Rodríguez, and businessman Pedro Zamora.
With this event, Dominican culture raised its voice in Times Square, marking a historic event for the diaspora. Seeing the tricolor flag waving in the heart of Broadway was a powerful gesture of pride and belonging.
The staging, with musical arrangements by Antonio González and Pablo García, and choreography by Laura Ramírez and Waddys Jáquez, reaffirmed the cultural richness and talent of our people.
“Dominicana, La Bella” not only celebrated our identity, but also paid tribute to the Dominican diaspora, an essential pillar of the nation’s economy and history, reminding us that we are one of the strongest, most influential, and respected communities in the United States.
