Wander Franco’s lawyer will study device to determine the player’s future and awaits full sentence
Puerto Plata.- The lawyer of Wander Franco, Teodocio Jáquez Encarnación, will study a device to determine the future of the player and awaits the full sentence after this Monday the court exempts the player from punishment through a judicial pardon, considering that he was also a victim within the process that was being followed for alleged child sexual abuse.
Upon leaving the Tribunal Coleiado of the Judicial District of Puerto Plata, the jurist explained that the decision offered by the judges was an oral summary, so they are still waiting to receive the full sentence to analyze in detail the grounds of the ruling. “The president of the court established that he was also a victim and, therefore, exempts him from punishment with judicial pardon,” expressed Jáquez Encarnación to the media. The lawyer insisted that some interpretations spread on social media have generated confusion about the scope of the judicial decision, assuring that many comments arise from misinterpretations of the ruling issued in court. We recommend reading: Wander Franco arrives at the Puerto Plata court awaiting the ruling of his new trial
“That is misinterpretation, the result of some who work on the networks and often interpret things in their own way, make them viral and tend to confusion”, he maintained. Jáquez Encarnación also indicated that the defense will not take a definitive position until they have the complete sentence in their hands, as they are still evaluating whether they will be fully satisfied with the decision made by the court. “When we have the sentence in our hands, we will give more details. We would have to see it complete to determine if we would be completely satisfied or not. If not, we have the resources open,” he warned. The Wander Franco case has held public attention in both the Dominican Republic and the international sports arena, due to the impact that the legal process has had on the career of the Tampa Bay Rays player.Linda Veras es periodista y comunicadora social dominicana, egresada de la licenciatura en Comunicación Social de la Universidad Católica Santo Domingo (UCSD).
