Woman dies in fire that reduced three homes to ashes in Espaillat

Espaillat. A woman lost her life during a fire that consumed three homes early this Wednesday morning in the La Mina community, in the municipal district of Veragua, Gaspar Hernández municipality, also leaving two families homeless.

The victim was identified as Denia de Jesús Valerio Torres, who, according to preliminary information, was trapped inside her residence as the fire spread rapidly. The incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. and the burns sustained caused her death.

The incident also completely destroyed the home of a Haitian national identified as Josélin, as well as the house of Ana Gilsa. Both families lost all of their belongings due to the intensity of the flames.

Community neighbors attempted to extinguish the fire and assist those affected, but the fire spread rapidly, preventing the rescue of the fatal victim and causing significant material losses.

The competent authorities arrived at the scene to carry out the corresponding removal and initiate investigations to determine the origin of the fire. So far, it has not been established what caused the incident and the inquiries are ongoing.
