United States.- From beauty and health to business leadership, community development, and female empowerment, these Dominican women have turned their dreams into projects that today impact lives inside and outside the Dominican Republic.
When a person leaves their country in search of new opportunities, they do not just cross a geographical border. They also go through cultural, emotional, and economic challenges that test their capacity for adaptation, resilience, and faith. For thousands of Dominicans who have emigrated to the United States, the path to success has been marked by sacrifices, long work hours, and the constant search for a better future.
Within that collective history, women stand out who have decided to transform difficulties into opportunities. Mothers, wives, daughters, leaders, and entrepreneurs who have carried with them the talent, values, and Dominican identity, building companies, foundations, and projects that today generate employment, well-being, and inspiration for new generations.

From Miami to New York and Pennsylvania, five Dominican women from the diaspora have managed to pave their way in sectors as diverse as dentistry, aesthetic medicine, fashion, professional development, and female entrepreneurship. Their stories have something in common: the determination not to give up and the conviction that dreams can indeed come true when worked on with discipline and purpose.

The first of them is Dr. Teresa Bello-Burgos, a renowned Dominican dentist based in Miami, Florida, whose career has transcended the dental office to become a mission of community service. Originally from Sabaneta, La Vega, she has dedicated more than 25 years to cosmetic and restorative dentistry, positioning herself as one of the most respected Latina professionals in her specialty. However, her legacy goes far beyond oral health.
Through the Monseñor Felipe Bello Foundation and the “Donating Smiles” program, she has impacted thousands of low-income families in the Dominican Republic through free medical and dental clinics. More than 12,000 patients have received care thanks to an initiative that combines health, solidarity, and hope. On June 7th, she will lead, alongside her husband, Julio J. Burgos, CHA, and a team of volunteers, the 18th Annual “Donating Smiles” Brunch, an event that will feature a special performance by singer Jandy Ventura and seeks to raise funds to continue developing medical and dental clinics in various Dominican communities. A mother to Julio José and Perla Liz, the doctor considers family and service to be two of the fundamental pillars of her life.
Wendy Guzmán’s story is also marked by the determination to pursue her dreams beyond borders. Born in Moca, Dominican Republic, she discovered her passion for skincare and aesthetic medicine at a very young age. After opening her first spa in her hometown, she made the decision to emigrate to the United States to continue developing her professional career. Wendy remembers with special gratitude the support received from the Espaillat Motor Group, whose backing was fundamental during the beginnings of her business project and represents a show of trust that she still deeply values within her journey as an entrepreneur.

In New York, she faced the challenges typical of every immigrant. She worked offering home services, collaborated with different specialized centers, and constantly prepared herself to obtain the necessary licenses to practice her profession. Today, she is the founder and CEO of Wendskincare, a professional skincare line developed in a laboratory, in addition to promoting an exclusive line of leather handbags. Her story reflects the power of perseverance and the importance of believing in oneself even when the path seems uncertain.
From Bonao to the stages of international fashion, Isabel Massiel Díaz de León has built a career that combines elegance, leadership, and communication. After emigrating to New York in 2011, she found in the fashion industry a platform to develop her talent and connect with important figures in the sector. She has worked alongside internationally recognized designers and participated in events such as New York Fashion Week.
She currently directs Business With Style Corp., a company focused on strategic consulting for professional image and leadership, in addition to developing Massiel Privé, a line inspired by contemporary executive elegance. Her experience as a communicator, model, and mentor has allowed her to help professionals and entrepreneurs project an image aligned with their goals. For Massiel, motherhood represents one of the most important and transformative stages of her life, adding a new dimension to her business and human vision.
In Rockland County, New York, the name Letty Silverio has become synonymous with opportunity. Known by many as “The Job Lady,” this Santiago-born Dominican has dedicated more than a decade to connecting people with jobs and new professional development opportunities.
Their work within the Human Resources and Industrial Recruitment area has allowed hundreds of families to find economic stability and new growth opportunities. In addition to directing HO1 Multiservices LLC, a company with operations in the United States and the Dominican Republic, they also lead the Cándida Aurora Solidarity Foundation, an organization that develops social, educational, and community support projects. Their story demonstrates that true leadership consists of opening doors for others while building new paths for collective growth.
The fifth protagonist of this story is Yessari Durán Del Carmen, a native of Haina, San Cristóbal, who found in a personal experience the inspiration to transform her life and that of other women. After facing severe hair loss during the postpartum period, she began a search for solutions that would eventually become Yherathi, a brand focused on hair care and female well-being.

Through her project “Emprende Sin Miedo” (Entrepreneurship Without Fear), Yessari shares tools, experiences, and mentorship aimed at strengthening the confidence of other female entrepreneurs. A mother of three, including twins, she knows firsthand the challenges involved in balancing motherhood with professional growth. Her message has become a source of inspiration for hundreds of women seeking to reinvent themselves and build a better future without letting fear or circumstances limit them.
Although their stories are different, all five share the same essence: the ability to transform challenges into opportunities. They are women who crossed borders without forgetting their roots, who built companies without losing their human sensitivity, and who have shown that success takes on a much deeper meaning when it is used to positively impact the lives of others.
From the diaspora, they continue to carry the name of the Dominican Republic with pride, demonstrating that distance does not break the bonds with the land that saw them born and that dreams, when nourished with faith, discipline, and perseverance, can cross any border.
