London.- <\/strong>A sudden power cut recorded in the city of London caused the closure of up to four subway lines <\/strong>and delays and partial suspensions on five others, according to Transport for London (TfL<\/a>, in English).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A TfL spokesperson told local media that it was a small power outage in southwest London that took place around 13:30 GMT, which was resolved “in a matter of minutes” and that it was “a problem with National Grid (the British electricity grid)”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company apologized in a post on social media X for “any inconvenience caused after a failure in the transmission network in central London”, and maintained that the problem “was solved in a matter of seconds” and that it did not interrupt the supply of the network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“A subsequent voltage drop may have briefly affected the electricity supply in the low voltage distribution network of the area,” he explained.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The Bakerloo, Waterloo & City, Weaver and Suffragette lines (the latter two of the Overground) were out of service for a few hours, while the Jubilee maintains the journey suspended between London Bridge and Finchley Road, and the Northern suffers delays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Elisabeth line, for its part, suffered severe delays and partial closures on its route between Paddington train station and Abbey Wood, and kept stations such as the central Tottenham Court Road closed, and the Circle line likewise recorded significant delays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Picadilly line, which connects central London with Heathrow Airport and is experiencing minor delays, was also affected, as was the Mildmay line, which has suspended service between Highbury & Islington and Stratford, in the east of the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Some of the people (who were traveling) may be stopped in the tunnel for a while,” said the spokesman, who assured that there are emergency electricity systems in the trains and stations, but that they cleared some stations that do not have that system for safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TfL’s own website, where the organization reports details about disruptions and delays, also suffered problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
