Santo Domingo.<\/strong>– The Senate of the Republic<\/strong> approved this Wednesday in a single reading the Trust for the Modernization of the Supply Markets of Santo Domingo (Fimerca-SD)<\/strong> signed between the Dominican State and Fiduciaria Reservas, destined for the construction, remodeling, expansion, community, cultural, social and commercial integration of the markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trust has a defined objective: the modernization of the supply markets. The assets of the trust are separated from the State’s assets, forming an independent one administered by Fiduciaria Reservas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Citizens will benefit from the modernization of the markets, whose administration is handled by Fiduciaria Reservas and from ensuring that the purpose of the trust is fulfilled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Fimerca-SD will be composed of the Dominican State, which will act through the Ministry of the Presidency as the settlor; Fiduciaria Reservas as the trustee, and the Mayor’s Office of the National District, as the beneficiary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trust would go to the rescue of the capital markets, whose structures are in poor condition, mainly the Mercado Nuevo on Duarte Avenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Senate, on the other hand, approved in a single reading a resolution that requests President Luis Abinader to declare a state of emergency in the province of Independencia and to assist the municipalities of La Descubierta, Mella, and the municipal district of Boca de Cach\u00f3n, due to the heavy rains and floods recorded on May 16 and 17.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The piece indicates that the intense rains have caused significant losses in agricultural production in the province of Independencia, which has affected essential crops that constitute the basis of food and the local economy, thus compromising the daily livelihood of numerous peasant families in that locality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The resolution calls for the reconstruction of the El Penitente bridge, as well as the rehabilitation of local roads and other damaged infrastructure to restore traffic and communication between the affected communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It also details that the Las Barias canal, a hydraulic infrastructure of great relevance for agricultural irrigation in the Boca de Cach\u00f3n area, has suffered significant damage due to the increase in water flow, compromising the irrigation of cultivable land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
