In this report, we remember six Dominican mothers whose motherhood left a deep mark on national history.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Manuela D\u00edez Jim\u00e9nez<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mother of Juan Pablo Duarte<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>She was the mother of the Father of the Nation. She educated Juan Pablo Duarte in values of justice, responsibility, and patriotism. Her home served as a meeting space for the Trinitarians, and her participation in the independence cause earned her exile. Manuela is a symbol of patriotic motherhood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Salom\u00e9 Ure\u00f1a de Henr\u00edquez<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mother of Pedro Henr\u00edquez Ure\u00f1a and three other children<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the main intellectual figures of the 19th century. She was the mother of the humanist Pedro Henr\u00edquez Ure\u00f1a, as well as Max, Francisco, and Camila. From her role as a mother and educator, she decisively influenced the intellectual and moral formation of her children, contributing thinkers of international stature to the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Altagracia Amelia Perdomo<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mother of Francisco Henr\u00edquez y Carvajal<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She was the mother of the former president, doctor, and diplomat Francisco Henr\u00edquez y Carvajal. She raised her son in a time of great challenges for women, contributing to his academic and civic education, which would later influence his political leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Rosa Smester Marrero<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mother of nine children<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although her children were not individually renowned figures, Rosa was a pedagogue and writer who, from her role as a mother, shaped upright citizens. Her legacy as an educating mother extended both in her family and among her students, and her thought influenced Dominican thought in the 20th century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Floripez Mieses<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mother of Orlando Mart\u00ednez<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She was the mother of journalist Orlando Mart\u00ednez, assassinated in 1975 for political reasons. Her tireless fight for justice, from the pain of motherhood, made her a symbol of dignity and resistance. Floripez raised her son with values of integrity and social commitment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Rosa Protom\u00e1rtir G\u00f3mez<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mother of Pedro Francisco Bon\u00f3<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She was the mother of the intellectual and politician Pedro Francisco Bon\u00f3, considered one of the first sociologists in the country.
