Santo Domingo.-<\/strong> The National Drug Council (CND)<\/strong> commemorated its 37th anniversary this Thursday with a Eucharist at the Primate Cathedral of America, where the institutional commitment to drug prevention and control in the Dominican Republic was renewed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the ceremony, the president of the CND, licenciado Alejandro de Jes\u00fas Abreu<\/a>, gave a speech in which he spoke about the crucial role of the family as the \u201cfirst line of defense against substance use.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\nThe head of the Council referred to the growing threat of new psychoactive substances (NPS)<\/strong>, while highlighting the efforts of President Luis Abinader’s government to contain their advance through early warning systems and comprehensive social protection.\n\n\n

\u201cOn this 37th anniversary of the National Drug Council, we firmly renew our commitment to the national policy of drug prevention and control, under the visionary leadership of President Luis Abinader,\u201d Abreu expressed.<\/p>\n\n\nFurthermore, he announced the strengthening of the institutional presence <\/strong><\/a>on social media with creative and educational content aimed at the new generations, to prevent both drug use and digital addiction.\n\n\n

During his speech, Abreu called on the various social sectors, on the entrepreneurs, to facilitate the first job, on the educators, to teach with passion, and on the parents, mothers and guardians, to create healthy and coherent homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mass was attended by government authorities such as Jes\u00fas Chu V\u00e1squez Mart\u00ednez<\/strong>, Consul General in the city of New York, the lawyer and political leader Vinicio Castillo<\/strong><\/a>, representatives of international organizations, members of civil society and collaborators of the National Drug Council, who joined in prayer for a Dominican Republic free of drugs.<\/p>\n\n\nConcluding his message, Abreu emphasized that \u201cthe Council heals and the example educates\u201d<\/em><\/strong>, and invited all of society to live in coexistence, health, and peace.","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
