The director of ProDominicana, Viviana Riveiro, explained that trade with Haiti has not diminished despite the worsening of the crisis affecting that country in recent years; however, she believes it is imperative that Dominican exports diversify in products and towards other markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe reality is that if we compare it with last year, Haiti has recovered to the level of international trade with the Dominican Republic,\u201d indicated Riveiro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, he said that the Haitian crisis has caused the purchasing power of Haitians to decrease, not only to be able to acquire Dominican products, but also from their main trading partners such as Japan, the United States, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\u201cMarket diversification is a national imperative and is contemplated in the national plan to promote exports from day 1, this plan that the president launched in November 2020, already has almost 80% of its execution of its 300 measures,\u201d the official detailed.\n\nHowever, understand that it is an imperative mandate that Dominican exports be diversified, both in the variety of products for export and in the destination markets.\n\n\n
These statements were offered within the framework of the Agro-food Fair 2025, where a series of technical conferences are held, and in addition to being a training space, they connect the producer with international markets, providing them with tools to compete with increasingly rigorous standards in terms of sustainability, safety, and technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
