Washington.<\/strong>\u2013 U.S. President Donald Trump<\/a> announced this Friday the dismissal of Kim Sajet as director of the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, a museum that houses portraits of important figures for the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Republican leader stated on his social network, Truth Social, that he made the decision “at the recommendation and request of many people.”<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\nSajet, born in Nigeria, is, according to Trump, “a very partisan person and a staunch defender” of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies, “which is totally inappropriate for her position.”<\/strong>\n\n\n

“His replacement will be named shortly,”<\/strong> he concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s not the first time the president has replaced the board of directors of prominent US cultural organizations, considering they do not align with the country’s interests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In February, he dismantled the board of the Kennedy Center, also in the capital, for not sharing his vision “of a golden age in the arts and culture,” and in April he dismissed the members of the board of trustees of the U.S. Holocaust Museum appointed by the previous Joe Biden administration (2021-2025), including Doug Emhoff, husband of former Vice President Kamala Harris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In May, he also dismissed the director of the Library of Congress, Carla D. Hayden, the first woman and the first black person to hold the leadership of that institution, who took office in 2016.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump began his second term on January 20th and in his first 100 days signed an executive order to eliminate what he called “anti-American ideology” from the Smithsonian Institution, to which the National Portrait Gallery belongs and which is responsible for managing the main museums in Washington.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
